The Role Behind the Title
As Internal Sales Director, Katya primarily works with brokers to facilitate trash and recycling services for both commercial and residential customers. Her days are filled with thoughtful coordination, strategic planning, and relationship building—all essential components of ensuring our services meet the diverse needs of our clients throughout the DMV area.
“I start my day by reviewing emails and messages from brokers and customers to address any urgent issues or inquiries,” Katya explains. “Throughout the day, I analyze sales data and market trends to identify opportunities for growth and improvement. I also collaborate closely with other departments, such as operations and customer service, to ensure seamless service delivery.”
When asked about the most rewarding aspects of her position, Katya’s passion for her work shines through. She values making a positive environmental impact, building meaningful relationships with brokers and customers, solving complex problems, and embracing opportunities for professional growth.
“By helping brokers provide effective trash and recycling solutions to their clients, we’re contributing to a cleaner and more sustainable environment,” she shares. “The process of identifying issues, brainstorming solutions, and implementing effective strategies is highly satisfying and keeps me engaged and motivated.”
A Changed Perspective
Like many of us before joining the waste management industry, Katya had a simplistic view of waste and recycling. Her experience at kmG Hauling has transformed her understanding of these essential services.
“I now realize the intricate processes involved in managing waste streams, from collection and sorting to processing and disposal,” she reflects. “My experience in this industry has deepened my understanding of the importance of waste and recycling, and it has inspired me to advocate for more sustainable practices in both my professional and personal life.”
A Memorable Beginning
Katya’s favorite memory from her time at kmG Hauling highlights the supportive and educational environment that defines our company culture.
“During one of my initial days, Mr. Garcia asked me if I knew what a compactor was. I confidently responded with something related to construction,” she recalls with a smile. “Mr. Garcia chuckled and kindly explained that a compactor is actually used in waste management to compress trash and recycling materials. This moment stands out to me because it was a perfect example of the supportive and educational environment at kmG Hauling.”
A Philosophy for Success
Guided by her personal motto—”Be thankful, attentive to details, and have a ‘yes’ attitude”—Katya approaches each day with positivity and dedication.
“Expressing gratitude for opportunities and experiences helps me stay positive and motivated,” she explains. “Paying close attention to details ensures that I provide accurate and high-quality service to our brokers and customers. Embracing a ‘yes’ attitude means being open to new challenges and opportunities, being proactive, adaptable, and willing to go the extra mile.”
Beyond the Office
When she’s not coordinating with brokers or analyzing market trends, Katya finds joy in connecting with nature through gardening.
“Gardening is a wonderful way for me to relax and connect with nature,” she shares. “I find it incredibly rewarding to nurture plants and watch them grow. Whether it’s tending to flowers, growing vegetables, or simply enjoying the outdoors, this hobby brings me a lot of joy and satisfaction.”
