Childhood Cancer Awareness Month Truck

September is Childhood Cancer Awareness Month, and at kmG Hauling, a goal of ours is to increase awareness of those affected by childhood cancer. Check out this video of Hugo, our Founder and President, describing our mission of helping find a cure for childhood cancer and our partnership with Ellie’s Hats.

Ellie’s Hats started with the mission to brighten the day of children with cancer. We have done this by sending special packages of hats and other items to children and their families. We have sent over 1,900 packages to children across the country. Since starting, we have added another part of our mission and that is to help local families who have a child with cancer and are struggling financially.

Breast Cancer

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month and at kmG Hauling we would like to bring this cause to the forefront and share some facts about those affected. Check out this video of Hugo, our Founder and President talk about how Breast Cancer was our very first kmG Cares campaign.

Breast cancer is a disease in which malignant (cancer) cells form in the tissues of the breast. 1 in 8 women in the United States will be diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime. In 2024, an estimated 310,720 women and 2,800 men will be diagnosed with invasive breast cancer.

We painted our trucks bright pink to bring awareness and have been met with an overwhelming amount of positive support since. There are several ways to get involved in bringing awareness to Breast Cancer. To learn more, visit the National Breast Cancer Foundation website.

PANDAS

October is P.A.N.D.A.S Awareness month. P.A.N.D.A.S. stands for pediatric autoimmune neuropsychiatric disorders associated with streptococcus. The syndrome involves sudden and often major changes in personality, behavior, and movement in children following a strep infection.

In 2018, kmG learned of a family whose son was diagnosed with P.A.N.D.A.S. After hearing their story and how it affects not only the child, but also the family, kmG felt compelled to create a truck to bring awareness to others. Since the creation of the first P.A.N.D.A.S. truck, three more have been created and can be seen driving through the DMV.

Please take some time to watch this video of Hugo, our Founder and President describe how we decided to design our P.A.N.D.A.S truck to create more awareness for the cause.

Pancreatic Cancer

Pancreatic cancer is the 10th most diagnosed cancer in the U.S. and more than 64,000 Americans will be diagnosed this year. Pancreatic cancer begins when abnormal cells in the pancreas grow out of control and form a tumor.

Pancreatic Cancer took the life of an aunt of Hugo Garcia, our Founder and President and the mother of a close family friend. We rolled out a fleet of purple trucks to create awareness of the horrible disease. In turn, social media helped us garner national recognition for spreading the word about pancreatic cancer.

Watch this video to commemorate the devastating losses and honor our loved ones.

Type I Diabetes

Type 1 diabetes is a chronic condition that affects about 37 million Americans, including adults and youth. It is a condition where the pancreas produces little or no insulin. Insulin is needed to allow sugar to enter cells to produce energy.

In March of 2021, kmG unveiled a truck that is near and dear to the Garcia family, as well as the company. Hugo, our Founder and President’s father, Aurelio Garcia, was diagnosed with Type 1 diabetes at a young age.
Check out this video as Hugo talks about how him and his father turned his Type 1 Diabetes diagnosis into a positive outcome by creating the fleet of trucks for more awareness.
